Your guide to safe, independent slope access
Before enjoying the SnowDome slope on your own, it’s important to meet the recreational standard. This ensures a safe and fun experience for all slope users. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or snowboarder or you're just starting out on your own after completing lessons, here’s what you need to know.
Please note: Protective headwear is mandatory for all slope users. For your safety and the safety of others, we also ask that all guests follow the International Federation of Skiers and Snowboarders Safety Code while on the slope.
The Recreational Standard
To help keep everyone safe and having fun on the slope, SnowDome operates a minimum ability policy known as the recreational standard. This means that to ski or snowboard recreationally (without supervision), you must be able to:
- Use all lifts safely
- Perform controlled linked turns
- Control your speed and direction
- Stop confidently when needed
If you're a confident skier or snowboarder and meet this standard, you’re welcome to enjoy the slope during recreational sessions. If you're new to the sport, or not quite at this level yet, the friendly instructors can help get you there with our range of ski and snowboard lessons. Visit the Ski Lessons or Snowboard Lessons pages to find out more.
